Help for Heroes Auction - June 2011
How time flies when you are having fun. So much has happened within the Club since my March newsletter.
Ceri Jones was our Judge at the two stock judging evenings held at Garthmyl and Styche Holsteins. Both events attracted large entries with John Seaton winning the Overall Club Championship and taking home the Micklejohn trophy for this year. Results of the stock judging will be on our web site at soon.
Help For Heroes
13th June was the date for our Charity fund raising dinner in aid of “HELP for Heroes”.
John and Liz Bradley at Wollerton Grange very kindly offered the use of the marquee they had for the wedding of their daughter.
This beautiful setting was then to greet 186 guests who enjoyed a three course dinner, charity auction and after dinner speech by TV celebrity Steve Leonard, BSc, MRCVS
An auction of promises was conducted by David Giles from Halls auctioneers who sold several items very generously donated by members and friends.
Dinner was prepared by the ladies of the club led by Ruth,Sue,Brenda,Carol,Jane and many others.
We must also mention Richard Prosser from BARCLAYS Bank who joined our organising committee and raised £750 matching sponsorship from the Bank.
I am very pleased to report that when all monies are collected we expect to be able to present HELP for HEROES with a cheque for around £8200.
The presentation will take place at one of our club meetings to which I will invite H4H representatives and some of our friends from the Royal Irish Rangers Regiment at Tern Hill Barracks, who are recently returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan.
