March 2011 News

03-07-2011

7th February was the date we should have had Howell Richards visit us but unfortunately Howell was taken ill so we wish him a speady recovery and look forward to him visiting us in the future.

However the day was saved by Craig Brough who at short notice and having just won the Presidents medal travelled down from Carlisle and gave a great presentation covering developments at home with the CARROCK herd and covered the period of his university days and subsequent career as a land agent with H&H in Carlisle.

A tremendous evening with a young man with a great career ahead of him.

7th March was day we were entertained by Trevor Lloyd from Islandpride Holsteins on the Isle of Anglesey.

Trevor is milking over 300 Holsteins with a small group of 30 Ayrshires as well as being a Non Exec Director of NMR and also serving on the Dairy Co Board. A very interesting and energetic man with definite plans and ambitions for the future and several ideas for a more efficient and profitable dairy industry.

Plans are well in place for our summer programme which should be on our web site as you read this epistle.

Sue Cope our HYB coordinator is busy with our young breeders preparing for the forthcoming HYB rally in Scotland and plans for a charity supper featuring Steve Leonard as our guest are in place for the 13th June.

Northern Ireland is our destination for this years summer study tour which is planned for the 28th,29th and 30th June.

We have welcomed several new members to the club this winter and extend a warm welcome to anyone who would like to join us at any of our future events.

We have events going on throughout the year with something planned for every month and all for just £10 per year.

Happy Breeding.

Frank Dixon. Secretary.
