January 2010 News
Shropshire News. January 2010.
Shropshire club members do it again.
We held our annual Dinner dance and Herds competition prize giving at Hawkwstone Park Hotel on the 22nd January where 225 members and guests had a great time in good company.
One of the highlights was a fundraising auction for the HAITI earthquake relief fund which raised £875 . Well done to everyone and many thanks to David Giles from Halls who was our auctioneer. The money will be sent to the charity CAFOD, which is very involved in sending volunteers and equipment to this devastated area.
Our Herds competition judge Mr Andrew Dennison accompanied by Jayne his wife was our guest of honour and gave a witty and interesting speech before giving out the trophies.
Stephane Whittaker also celebrated her 21st Birthday with us and we all enjoyed singing happy birthday and wishing her well.
Results of our herds competition can be found on the results pages.
Monday the 25th was the day Martin Evans was our guest speaker at our monthly meeting.
Martin gave a very interesting ,informative and entertaining talk about his business including 330 registered cows. a contracting business as well as his building operation.
Not only all of that but a producer director of ARLA. A splendid evening with 54 members in attendance.
Our next meeting will be addressed by Drew Sloan formerly head of GENUS/ABS Europe and now Chief exective and adviser to the Scottish government. This should be interesting.
