All Britain Show and a New member
Welcome to the next generation of HYB. Congratulations to Ben and Lizzie Yates and welcome to Oscar who was born on the 22nd September 2009 and even made his first appearance at All Britain on Sunday at Stoneleigh in the arms of very proud parents in Ben and Lizzie.
Our HYB team put on a great show proudly displaying their new stand which was co designed by all the young breeders and staffed by a very enthusiastic team from the very young to the more senior members.
They where lead by Andy Smith, Lisa Montgomery, Charlote and Jonathan Cope who lead by example and represented the club in a very fine way, teaching and encouraging all the younger members the skills needed to put on a good show.
Well done to all the team who each played a very important role in a great team effort.
We started the showmanship with Colm O'Neill making his first appearance on the big stage and demonstrated some good skills that will see him progress up the lines to the very top in the future. Jonathan then followed in the 13-15year old group and again put on a good show and learned some very important skills that will again see him being the one to beat in the future.
Charlotte was next up and pulled in in 3rd place in a very strong class in which she was one of the very youngest in the 16 to 20 year old group.
The mature showman class saw team leader Andy Smith put on a great demonstration of leading skills and stood 14 in the strongest class of the day. Well done to everyone especially the back room members who manned the stand and helped get the leaders and calves to the ring in good shape.
Sunday saw the calf classes starting with the baby calves in which B and L Whitfield stood 12th with Alderbarrow Spirte Rollie. The next class saw Ed Seatons Damion Sally 2nd being pulled in in 6th place with several ring side judges placing her higher.
The Intermediate class saw the Seaton/Pocock calf, Excel Toystory Ebony taking 15th place.
The Graduate calf class got very exciting with at one time both the Pronto Chancel sisters bred at the Styche standing 1st and 2nd before finally being separated by a very stylish Atlas calf. The final placing saw the Whittaker family in partnership with B and L Whitfield take first place and Seaton Farms taking 3rd. Very well done to Peter Seaton and family for this tremendous achievement.
The senior calf class provided our greatest excitement with Jonathan Cope leading out Alderbarrow Samuel Carla And not only winning the class but went on to take the championship with this tremendous calf which has many admirers.
The mature calf class saw Andy Smith take 6th place with his stylish calf Wardle Modest Snowdrop which meant that all the Shropshire calves finished in the points in every class which is a credit to the breeders, fitters and handlers as well as the invaluable back room staff.
The most credit must surely go to our HYB coordinator Sue Cope who has worked tirelessly in training, recruiting and encouraging all our HYB members to come and get involved.
Well done.
